The SCHUFA (Schutzgemeinschaft für allgemeine Kreditsicherung) is a credit bureau that collects and stores information about the creditworthiness of individuals and companies.
This information is used by, for example, banks, landlords, and contract partners to assess your ability to pay.
Tip:
Private individuals can request a free data copy under Art. 15 GDPR from SCHUFA (for personal use only).
For official purposes (e.g. for landlords), the paid SCHUFA credit check is recommended.
Companies can also request credit checks and ratings.
Deletion is possible in the following cases:
Incorrect entries
Entries without authorization
Mix-ups of people
Claims that are already expired
New: Recently, there are simplified procedures for incorrect entries, which can be requested directly online.
Request SCHUFA information
Get your report directly at schufa.de – not via expensive third-party providers.
Check data
Carefully check your report for mistakes, old or incorrect entries.
Settle open claims
Valid entries can only be deleted if claims are fully paid.
Request deletion
For unauthorized entries: Reach out directly to the creditor.
For incorrect entries: Submit the request directly to SCHUFA.
Check again
You'll get feedback after about 3–4 weeks. Check if the wrong entries were deleted.
