Here's how you fix problems with the ICT DCM5 age verification module: understanding the LED status, correct usage, cleaning, configuration, and quick troubleshooting.
Quick-Check (in this order)Check status LED (green blinking = ok, red = malfunction).
Card slot free & clean? (no foreign objects/dirt).
ID valid and MRZ back side correct, swiped at the right speed?
Configuration on the machine correct? (Age verification activated, right products).
Restart the module/machine.

Use MRZ: Always swipe the back side of the ID (machine-readable line).
Speed: Even, not jerky; not too fast or too slow.
Validity: Test with a valid ID document.
User guidance: Put hints directly at the slot → sticker set.
Module off → wait a bit → on.
Test again afterwards.
If still red: Check cable/plug (make sure it's tight), check configuration in the menu.
Take an old EC/customer card, 1–2 layers of paper towel wrap tightly around it.
Pull the card carefully a few times through the slot.
Don't put any liquid in the slot.
Test again afterwards.
If products have no age restriction, deactivate the querydeactivate.

Make sure the age verification is activated and is only assigned to the right product groups.

Repeat the test with the machine closed (some sensors behave slightly differently when open/closed).
Permanent red LED despite restart/cleaning/config check.
Mechanical defects on slit/reader.
Repeated verification failures despite correct MRZ usage.
